The Catch: Our paddle blades are designed to dip gently into the water without splashing or spinning the blade. This allows the blade to be firmly anchored in the water in the second phase of the paddle stroke....
The pull: Here the power is transferred from the paddler to the blade and into the water, propelling you forward. Because the paddle blade is slightly narrower and longer than conventional sup paddle blades, you have several "gears" depending on how deep you insert the paddle into the water. Along with a slight tilt of the blade, cavitation (flutter) is also reduced for maximum power transfer from the body to the blade and into the water.
The recovery: Just as important as the catch is a clean recovery that minimises power loss and maintains rhythm. The beach paddle blade has a minimal "curve" in the blade and a thin profile. This allows the blade to emerge quickly and cleanly from the water at the end of the stroke. The thin profile also increases the power of the blade as the paddle glides through the water, which is an advanced recovery technique used in many situations, from maintaining balance to course corrections.
