Which Wingfoil Wing should You Buy?
Wing Size for Beginners:
- Bodyweight under 70 kg ➜ Wing approximately 4-5 m2
- Bodyweight between 70-90 kg ➜ Wing approximately 5-6.5 m2
- Bodyweight over 90 kg ➜ Wing approximately 6.5-8 m2
Other Considerations:
- Windows prevent collisions.
- Thanks to hard grips, it's easier to pump and steer.
- Wing Shape: A wing with a thick front tube and ample profile in the fabric generally has more power, also known as Lightwing-Wings. A flatter wing has less power but is somewhat easier to control in gusts, though less suitable for light winds.
- The harder the fabric, the less "baggy" it becomes over time.
- The harder it's pumped, the stiffer the "Frame," and the more power it provides.
- Separate valves for the front strut and boom allow "trimming" the wing by adjusting pressures during inflation.
- The lighter the wing on land, the more comfortable it is on the water.
Which Wing for Strong Wind for Advanced Wingfoilers?
Choose a wing that is 2m2 smaller than your light wind wing. Generally, you don't need more than 2 different wing sizes. Based on the above table, an 80 kg wingfoiler could manage with a 6m2 wing for light wind and a 4m2 wing for strong wind.
